---Termites, Termites, Termites

Last night we had one of the biggest storms since we have been here. The clouds were gray much of the day, but in the evening it was joined by thunder and then the downpour. All of a sudden we had a deluge of giant, flying bugs that were about the size of dragon flies. Coulson realized they were drawn to the light so he turned all the lights off. Outside the window and doors we saw thousands of these flying around the outside lights. Just as quickly as they had come, they disappeared after the rain stopped.
The next morning I awaited Zipporah's explanation of this phenomenal event. She said they are termites. Their holes get wet so they come out with wings. When the rain stops they go back in again and leave their wings behind. Imagine my surprise when she said "we eat them"..."they are very sweet." She explained that they trap them in big baskets by putting flour in the basket. The flour makes them get stuck and takes the wings off so they can't climb out of the basket. Then you fry the termites. They are a delicacy and taste like candy". So be careful when you ask us to bring back something sweet.
